Leading leather-goods company Pemberton & Milner has teamed up with luxury jeweller Garrard to create Military Monopoly, an exquisite deluxe leather and silver version of the old family favourite Monopoly game.
The diamond encrusted version of the famous property game costs more than six times the total value of pretend money inside.
Called Military Monopoly, it replaces the traditional place names such as Bond Street and Mayfair, with the names of Royal Navy ships, Army units and RAF stations.
It has been launched by luxury leather-goods company Pemberton & Milner along with posh jewellers Garrard and a quarter of the profits raised will go to charitie services.
The playing pieces are made of silver and all relate to military gear, including a Household Cavalry Helmet, a Royal Air Force jet, and a sailor’s cap.
Players can be forced to pay fines for a mess bill and loss of equipment and the railway stations are replaced with various military chiefs.
The houses and hotels are also silver and the board is covered with diamonds, with gold and diamond shakers and dice.
Elizabeth Finch Moore, of Pemberton & Milner, came up with the idea of the military-themed charity game because many of her family have served in the forces.
It took her 18 months to get permission from Monopoly makers Hasbro to make the game and she has liaised with the Ministry of Defence.
“My grandfather was in the Special Boat Service, while my father was a Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force. He also worked with the RAF Benevolent Fund. … My brother served for some twenty-two years in the artillery and my boyfriend is a Captain. … Each of the three forces charities is therefore close to my heart, especially as they help the families as well as the individuals who have served.” Elizabeth Finch Moore
For those with less deep pockets there are two other versions of the game, a £1,495 Deluxe version with a hand-printed leather board and a £3,500 Ultra Luxe version which is entirely handmade.
Funds raised by the game will go to The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and The RAF Benevolent Fund.
The ‘Garrard Military Monopoly Board’ and the Pemberton & Milner Ultra-Luxe boards are available at the Garrard flagship store, 24 Albemarle Street, London W1.
