Most of these books took a lot of time to be created. Printed books were first produced by Johann Gutenberg  which led to a revolution of mass book production. Most of the first copies of books are one of the most loved and favoured collectible by bibliophiles. This along with some other factors like signatures or written messages by some other legend can also make the book a collectible and pricey item. Between the costliest books in the world are Leonardo Da Vinci Notebook , called by Codex Leicester and the Gutenberg Bible .

Leonardo DaVinci Notebook is truly  valuable, it has been sell by 30.8 million USD to Bill Gates. It is one of the most expensive books in history. This notebook is full of scientific observations possibly during 1506 to 1510. It was never published or printed in any quantity. The Codex Leicester is unique in its way that it was hand written by the great master himself. The book has numerous observations that can prove to be of huge scientific importance or inspiration.

The second most  valuable book is The Gutenberg Bible , produced by Johann Gutenberg, this book marked the start of the “Gutenberg Revolution” and it was the first major book printed with movable type in the West. Widely praised for its high aesthetic and artistic qualities, the book has an iconic status. Written in Latin, the Gutenberg Bible is an edition of the Vulgate, printed by Johannes Gutenberg, in Mainz, Germany, in the 1450s. Forty-eight copies, or substantial portions of copies, survive, and they are considered by many sources to be the most valuable books in the world, even though a complete copy has not been sold since 1978.
